My son has skillfully learned how to climb out of his crib, its actually quit impressive. But it is obviously dangerous, so we are putting the crib away. He is currently sleep on his matress on the floor, but it is now almost impossible to get him to go to sleep. He just wants to wander around his room. We are looking for a bed for him. Any suggestions. Do they make little kids bed that will encourage him to stay in it? Not necessarily cage him in, but something?

You can buy a crib tent which attaches to the rails of his cribs and has a dome over the top which zips open and closed to put him in and take him out of. Then, he's not climbing. That'd be the best option for the moment and will buy you time before moving him to a big boy bed.

I had my 14 month old in a twin bed mattress on the floor within a week...I just had to keep getting up and putting him back into bed. Now he's 19 months old and sleeping on him own in his own bed all night. With my oldest he was actually in a toddler bed at 10 months on his own and did fine becuase he never used a crib, but anyways...just stay consistent with putting your baby back in bed when he gets up, try a fan and a very dim night light only at night. Dont play with him when its bed time....just in bed and goodnight kisses. Eventually he will get the idea that he has to go to sleep. Buying a different bed wont really make a difference. Its just staying cosistent and having routine at bedtime. Good luck! I know its a tough transistion!

The toddler beds are nice and close to the ground.

We used my old bed and got the rails for each side and a small step stool. (www.onestepahead.com - the mesh ones)

You could do either and tell him he can have certain special toys in the bed (or books) as long as he stays in there. If he gets out the toys go to. They you can use them as a reward for when he stays in all night.

I also bribed my daughter with a special treat of her choice in the AM if she stayed in her bed. It was usually a jelly bean or a marshmallow.

Consistency is the name of this game. Be strong and do not deviate. He will get it.

Its called a Toddler bed..
you can get ones with small bars on the side so he wont roll out, but can still get out any time he wants, since its near the floor...Usually your crib mattress fits right in them

Many new cribs are convertible, which means they convert to a toddler bed. If your crib didn't do that, just buy a toddler bed.

My daughter has been in her own bed since she was 18 months old. She was fine! It is just an ordinary childs single bed. Why dont you get one of those tent things that you put over the bed...they have them in ikea...google "bed tent" and see...he'll think it's like a little den.

they do make toddler beds that the crib mattress fits in, they have attachable rails so he wont roll out. However, youmay want to look into one of those theme beds (they also take the crib mattress) like the race car, train, etc...it may seem so neat to him he can't wait to go to bed.

unfortunatle he has to learn that when it is bed time he has to stay in bed. but when he gets up you just say no it is bed time and then put him back. it takes about a week but he will stay there.

this one might be a lttle hard to climb out of.
