so i'm in the public bathroom at work taking a duke, and someone walks in. and instead of using the stall furthest to me, he goes directly to the one next to me. what the HELL!!! why do people do that? (there was no foot-tapping, so that wasn't his intention)

to answer some of your questions to my questions (i would've preferred answers) i did go to the furthest stall. in a hurry is a stupid excuse as it is at most two steps further to go to the furthest one. it matters becasue i don't want to hear or smell anyone's $hit coming out of their as$. and i won't shoot myself over it, so it's not that big a deal to me. just wondering why people do that. it's like walking into a movie theater with one other stranger sitting in their and sitting in the seat right next to him. it doesn't make sense to me.

I'm giving you a star because I've wondered that myself too.
Besides the bathroom and movie theater examples, I've never figured out why when a restaurant is nearly empty, the waiter will seat you right next to another occupied table instead of a few tables away.
But I suppose this is just a very minor annoyance when you think of all the other troubles going on.

It's a little annoying, I'll grant you that. However, why do you care? Really? You're locked (hopefully) in a stall in private and doing your business. The guy in the stall next to you can't see you and didn't want any 'interaction' other than taking care of his own business. When you gotta go, you gotta GO! It usually doesn't matter where, so long as there's an opening somewhere and it's not intentionally done to aggravate you either. Chill out and just 'duke' it out and be done with it already.

Some people just don't seem to have any qualms about toilet going. Choosing the furthest stall from an occupied one probably didn't even occur to them as a good thing to do.

On youtube search for "men's restroom etiquette". It's a funny video made using The Sims. It will give you a good laugh and explain why people do that and how to handle the situation.

Kind'a like a bear, got to have the perfect spot and the one next to you was it. Or maybe the other toilets were gross and the one next to you was the cleanest? You definitely have a bright side though, there was no foot-tapping!

Because in this society people are taught that the human body and functions are bad. That's why they censer things. censorship should be against the law. Freedom is not freedom when it is censors any thing.

Maybe it's his favorite stall. He would have gone in that one regardless of which one you choose.
