I read that in the paper yesterday along with other disturbing statements. Do you still think they are the "true church"? Another tell tale sign of a cult.

While Catholics are taught they have a responsibility to participate in democracy where it is available to them (and not just voting, but also running for office, helping campaign for others, writing policy, etc.), there is not nor has there EVER been a mandate such that we would lose our salvation if we don't vote.

Catholics don't think that way. We believe salvation is a gift from God. A person who fails to uphold his/her responsibility in ANY sector of life (i.e., voting but also parenting, schooling, work, community, etc.) will likely have to answer to Jesus for it, but that doesn't mean our salvation is lost forever.

Please do not bear false witness against Catholics like you have with these unfounded allegations.

It's mostly over the abortion issue, which is understandable from their point of view. The thing is, how could the church possibly enforce such nonsense? Voting in this country is private so the church won't know how anyone voted anyway. The whole thing is silly and moot. Only God can grant salvation, the church might have gotten the impression they have that kind of power of making man-made saints and stuff, but I don't think the church, or any church, can tell God who will be saved and who won't, any more than the church can tell God who's a saint. If the catholic church keeps trying to pretend they're the boss of God, they'll be losing members, along with their large pockets. No offense to catholics, I'm married to one, but honestly, the catholic church is the closest thing we have to the pharisee's in this day and age.

Purgatory has no biblical bases. *********************genuine, Purgatory isn't interior the Bible, neither is the Trinity. The Trinity explains how God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one God. I have heard a cardinal in Boston say that their salvation would be in jeopardy if they vote for "sinful issues", such as abortion or stem cell research.

This is the reason I am a Protestant, because salvation is of the Lord, by His grace, and we are kept by His faithfulness, not our ability to meet a checklist.

Never in the scriptures does it says anything that salvation is connected to voting. these are doctrines of men all man made and they are trying to infuse that God said it, false prophets will come to mislead many. If you look up the word cult you will always find that they always have leaders who proclaim to be prophets or get messages from God.

Assuming that God exists and is the one who decides on a person's eternal fate, I don't think any mortal man has the authority or the power to deny anyone salvation.

It is a cult. The Popes title reads one in place of the Son of God. The Antichrist is going to be the one in place of the Son of God and is going to require worship as God from the everyone on earth. Be very careful of this Pope or his successor.

Yeah, I saw that and I had to laugh out loud! You know, as a youth I was excommunicated from the great and mighty catholic church because I didn't believe that God demanded 20% of my gross income to get me into heaven- the priest felt otherwise.

If that is true, that is extremely stupid.
The only way to God/salvation is through His son Jesus Christ.
Pray and accept Jesus as Savior and repent of your sins and you will be born-again in spirit and will become a child of God.

Yeah, it's a cult. Pretty obvious to all that aren't brought up in it.
