It started with Noah's sons. One of Noah's sons: Ham, he saw his father naked when his father was drunk (after the flood was resolved) and his father cursed him for that. He said "cursed be Canaan" in Gen. 9:25. Ham is the ancestor of Nimrod the builder of the Tower of Babel. Also Ham is the supposed ancestor of all black people. Anyway, Nimrod was a tall black man according to a history book I read, and he and the other humans alive (who were not all black) were defying God after the flood and build the tower of Babel to make sure that no flood could kill them again and they could live in sin as they pleased and God could not drown them again. God was smarter than them and confused their languages and spread these people around the world. So this is how different nations got started around the world and therefore different races also. The ancestor of the "white" people was Shem - another of Noah's sons. Japhteh the third son of Noah I think he is the ancestor of the Asian people but I am not sure.
Also, Abraham's many women that he had in his life also spread different races. With Sarah he had Isaac and the Hebrew people came from them. Then he married Keturah after Sarah's death - I think Asian people came from that. Also, Abraham had concubines and many more races came from that. Later on from the tribes of Israel - also Abraham's descendants - came Jacob- the one from whom all English speaking people today come from - like England, USA. Then Jacob had a twin Esau - Esau's birthright was stolen by Jacob and Esau is the Russian ancestor - all Russians come from him. The French came from Jacob's first born Ruben. The Irish are from Jacob's son Dan. I don't know all of them but I will hopefully eventually. I know this for sure because I researched it. well obviously there are only 4 races
noahs, and each of his sons...but wait a second, having the same genes, they'd all be the same race.....
and wait, all of them came from adam, so we're all the same race, race is an illusion

They evolved to meet the needs of the places they settled in. Brown skin, brown eyes, etc...is much more preferable to blue eyes and white skin if you live in an extremely hot place. Blue eyes, heavier bodies, white skin; great for cold places.
This is the dumbed down version, but that's basically it.

Some say its because where they had to have incest during that time is how that got started, and some say at the tower of babel.
