It's called being tied, not being stuck together! Leave them alone! If you try to separate them, you will do permanent, major damage to both dogs. After the male finishes ejaculating into the female, the swelling will go down, and they will release by themselves, when they are ready to. PLEASE have your dogs both fixed!!! Don't contribute to the overpopulation, euthanization rate that already exists. Too many innocent animals, that deserve a good life, are being put down by the thousands every day, because there are not enough homes to go around, to adopt them. An irresponsible breeder, adding to the problem is just so sad, and so very unfair to the dog. SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS, and leave the breeding to the professionals, who know what they are doing!

Firekeeper's answer is nice on the funds. A thought for why dogs stay joined after mating is that it supplies the male dogs's sperm time to fertilise the eggs till now yet another male dogs gets to mate with the female. No-one else can mate along with her mutually as she's nevertheless joined.

Never do that! They have to finish up the fun stuff whether you want it to happen or not. Taking them apart could injure the female and the male things are swollen up that's why they are stuck.

Maybe if you don't know that you cannot do while they are mating you shouldn't be letting your dogs mate? You abviously are some back yard breeder and are not knowledgeable what so ever. Sad....

Do not try to separate them, this can cause severe trauma or injury. Just wait it out. The male is actually ejaculating while they are stuck. Once he is finished the swelling will go down and they will separate.

The male's ejaculation swells the top up, which prevents him from getting it out. You can't pry them apart. I wonder how this plays a part in evolution myself.

You dont even try to seperate them at all. You can do serious internale harm to the female and external to the males penis! Just leave them alone and when they are done they will seperate themselves!
Good God!

Once they are stuck you should just leave them ANY attempt to seperate them WILL cause them injury!! Just leave them be and don't let it happen again.
