I was always taught the message of Christianity was to worship Jesus, or burn in Hell.
Period..

This liberal coombuya hippie crap of helping people as a way to get to heaven had nothing to do with Jesus- he demanded worship.

My question is where in the Bible did Jesus say you didn't have to worship him? I was always taught if you don't worship Jesus, you'll burn in hell, no matter how charitable a person you are.

Good deeds don't get you into heaven.
Worship of Jesus does.

Jesus said he was God, and told people to worship him, or face an eternity in hell

Wrong. The main message of Jesus -- the only message of Jesus -- is to love God, others and yourself. If you do that, the rest of that stuff will take care of itself. You can go to a church and worship all you want, you can do good deeds all you want, if you don't love God and other people and yourself, it's worthless.

1.Isn't the main message of Christianity 'worship Jesus, or burn in Hell"?

The short answer is YES, TURN or BURN!

However, that does not make that message the truth, does it. I don't think anyone has said this yet but I will, what you were taught is a lie.

2. Where in the Bible did Jesus say you didn't have to worship him?

Again the short answer..No where.

He did say many times, BELIEVE! I do not recall Jesus words ever being ' to whom so ever worship me', but on several occasions he did say, paraphrasing; to whom so ever BELIEVETH, or to he that hath an ear, or to him that can see. That being said, I think the main message of Jesus is "BELIEVE".

Now I’m sure the Christians here will damn me to their hell with faces contorted and a shrieking rreeek!..speaking to curse me in so-called tongues and screaming...you can not have eternal salvation without eternal damnation, what Blasphemy!...BUT, I'm ok with that!

Well, I'm guessing that that is the message if you were brought up in some kind of backwoods Fundamentalist congregation who have their own revisionist views about the development of Christianity and the history of the Bible and of theological constructs throughout the ages. A tenet of the Protestant faith--although I'm not sure that this applies to all denominations--belief and worship of Jesus--not works--gets you into Heaven. In Catholocism, one is asked to be Christlike and one is said to be judged according to his sincerity and generosity, tolerance, and loving kindness (ie, how well he has followed the example of Christ) toward others. I don't think Jesus said people should worship him anywhere in the Bible. He did ask people to follow his example often, though.

"Worship of Jesus" doesn't get you into heaven; believing in Jesus does. Believing in Jesus means striving to the utmost of your ability to live a life based on the life and teachings of Jesus: love God, love other people, treat others as you would have them treat you, care for those less fortunate than you.

That said, I kind of agree with you that, in today's church, the main message of "Christianity" seems to be, worship Jesus or burn in hell. I would argue, however, that that is NOT the main message of Jesus.

FYI: it's Kum Ba Yah, not coombuya ... and to quote Mario Van Peebles in "Heartbreak Ridge" ... "There ain't been no hippies around here for centuries."

I agree with most here that we deserve Hell, but Jesus came to show us that we don't have to go there. All we need to do is believe in his grace and mercy and the power of his Name and that is what he calls loving him. Doing this is all we need to get to heaven.

I never read this in any Bible or Quran.
Is this a brand new version?
The main message of Jesus is to Love God and Love each other.

No dear one. We ALL deserve hell. The MESSAGE is that Jesus came to show the way to avoid it. Jesus didn't "demand" worship. He showed us how to love each other.

God bless!

Not so much 'worship' Jesus...but accept him. He is human just like you and me.
There are a lot of people who have a problem with acceptance.

You are kinda there, Hell is what happens when one rejects Christ and his salvation. you will be left alone, that's it. If you do not want to spend eternity with Christ, you don't haft to, but you will spend eternity somewhere and there are only two places. With God or without. With God, he is love, all things good are there. Without God, there is no love, no hope, ho joy, all things bad are present. it is that simple.

The message I get from Christianity is believe what I tell you to believe or you are going to live in torment for eternity because an evil deity is a jealous monster.

While you are here it is imperative to point fingers, judge, and condemn anyone who disagrees.

It is also imperative to teach hate and bigotry to your children.

As a Christian you must always report anyone who challenges you to think or defend your idiotic religion.
