No.The things that happen for a reason are actions with a purpose. The rest is just random events and coincidence.

Yes and No. Depending on your definition of "reason."
Yes because everything that happens is an effect of a certain cause. For example, a glass bottle breaks because it fell to the ground. The breaking of the bottle is the effect, and the falling down is the cause. We can take note that the falling is also an effect of another cause, perhaps someone accidentally nudged the bottle to fall down and in that case the falling of the bottle is the effect and the "accidental nudging" is the cause. The case in point is that everything that occurs is a direct effect of something else, and that cause is the very "reason" why something happened. So, if we define "reason" as the answer to the question "why," then logically, there is a reason for everything that does happen.
However, as i have stated above, the answer to the question can also be no. that is if we define "reason" as what the purpose of occurence is. "Why did the bottle have to break?" or "What is the purpose of the bottle breaking?" To that question, the simple answer is that there is no purpose or there is no reason. It was an accident and therefore, it was not intentional and happened with no reason at all.

Everything DOES happen for a reason. It is learning what that reason is that science is all about. Nothing is random even the lottery. Reason does not necessarily imply an intelligence behind it. Even at a subatomic or quantum level. Quantum physics just calculates the possibilities of something happening. Black hole are formed for a reason. Atoms are formed for a reason. Scientists are studying what these reasons are. but there in no heavenly helper that makes black holes or atoms. It is all natural and follows the laws of physics if we know what the laws are or not.

At a non-quantum level, yes.
It may not be what you or I consider a good reason, but cause and effect means that anything that happens will have a cause behind it.
The fun starts when you consider that quantum effects, which appear to be totally random and without a cause, can start having an effect at the non-quantum level and then have a growing knock on effect, like a line of dominoes.
If you are asking if there is some sky pixie pulling the strings of the universe. No. That is a ridiculous idea.

I believe everything does happen for a reason. sometimes, you may see what the reason was later on in life sometimes you may not never see what the reason was, but GOD knows everything. that is why when I pray I always say thank you Lord for everything that you have given me and everything you did not give me. The bible did say with everything give thanks!!
And Kenygurl it's not for everything there is a reason (if you are quoting the bible) it's for everything there is a season>>>

Yes, but take emotion out of the equation first.
I believe we have a pre-determined time table here, and regardless of how we die - we are still supposed to die. Some die with extreme suffering & some die peacefully.
I'm going out on a limb here, and will probably get bashed from every direction - Lets take 9/11 for instance. Yes a touchy subject, I know. If those towers hadn't fallen and killed all those people all at once - it would have been even freakier if all those people just up and died that morning without explanation. They died, it was their time. Yes it was awful, I'm not denying that - but at least we know why.
Everything happens for a reason.

For every thing there is a reason
a a time for every purpose under heaven
i love those lines
but apart from that yes there is a reason why everything happens ,but maybe not in the sense you mean ,a reason can mean a cause and every thing has a cause and an effect even if we can`t see what it is at the time

Yes, everything happens for a reason, to a degree.
I get paid. The reason I get paid is because I work.
If you're talking a little more conceptually, the term simply allows people a reason to explain things that annoy them but accept that there's no point in whining about it.

Everything happens for a reason, sometimes, not the best reason. There are reasons, why we have so many serious problems in this world. We are not putting enough spiritual effort and brains, into addressing them. Sometimes the reason is that society is not doing enough of the right things, sometimes it is the individual, who is not doing their part, and sometimes it is groups inside society, that are not doing their part. The reason can be complicated, even a lack of reason is a reason.

Yes,
Though I also believe those reasons may never be understood in this world, or may only be understood years and years latter but when there are made known to us it is makes even the most difficult of situations and heartaches seem well for they where all for God's divine plan....he know what he is doing and it all has meaning ....just trust him... and it will all come to make sence in time.

Im on the fence about this as some things in my life I could put to down to fate
E.g : If I went home off my holiday when I was supposed to, I wouldn't be getting married as I wouldn't have met my Fiancé.
But there is stuff that would never have happened if I hadn't have put in a lot of hard work and perservered and I know fate hasn't got anything to do with these things.
Very, very strange.....
