Do you expect to sit in the family part if i ever get married, you will be sitting at the back, if you do ever get a place to sit.

hmmm this a difficult one having been an absent father myself. i think it depends on why he is absent. if he has been kept at arms length by your mum and for him to be there would cause disruption and conflict then he would probably like to be there more but isnt willing to disrupt your life any more than it has been already.
if he is staying away because he just cant be bothered then he doesnt deserve to share in the happy bits and he needs to change his ways.
when you do get married it will be your choice if he is there or not.
i hope it is the former and not the latter for you as if it is the former it will be able to be resolved.
my daughters step father gave her away at her wedding and i did the father of the brides speech at the meal. it was all very amicable and yes it meant a lot to me and to my daughter that i was allowed to do that. ididnt see it as a right it was a privelage.
good luck.

I done this, sat in the back of the church why my ex wifes new boyfriend gave my daughter away. I don't believe that she ever knew that I was there and I cleared of as soon as the service was over. But at least I saw her given away.

Aww, please let me sit in the family part. I hate sitting at the back, its draughty from those silly big church doors.

Isn't it better to tell him this to his face, instead of writing it on Yahoo Answers?

You really think he's going to read this? Try sending your sentiments in a letter -- to him.
