If I be honest with my PO about being arrested for a misdemeanor and I only have about 4 1/2 months left to go. Would he be nice enough to not violate me or revoke me? Should I even tell him about it?

Might as well tell him. He'll find out anyway, and any shot you have at getting a break disappears if he thinks you hid it from him.

He's gonna find out, so it's best to throw yourself at his mercy, and that will do alot better than hiding from it. The legal system like to see things like remorse. But then again how remorseful can you really be, if you were given a break and didn't apreciate it. Not that I would be shocked if you didn't tell him because we all know how much integrity a thief has in the first place. Try this breakthrough idea, how about getting a job and actually pay for things you want. If you cant afford it, then maybe you shouldn't have it in the first place. Every time somebody steals, it just raises the prices on items that we the hard working public wan't, because the company has to recover it's losses.

Your PO will know. All arrests are listed on their computers as well as warrents. You might as well come clean.

I noticed that you asked two questions about getting arrested. Can I just give you some brotherly advice? Get over yourself already. You have a PO and you are still getting yourself in trouble. There are other ways to live life besides ducking the cops everytime you see them.

I only say this as a friend, so I hope you don't take it the wrong way.

Why would you even risk any chance of getting arrested while on probation? That's just plain stupidity. I'm sorry to have to tell you this fact. Now, how are you going to explain your actions to your P.O. why you shoplifted? Yes, you better tell your P.O. as he's going to find out anyway. I hope you stole food because you could at least say you were starving and had no money. That it was an act of desperation. Stealing anything else just makes you look like a petty criminal. And petty criminals who violate their probation go to Jail and do not pass "GO" and collect their $100.00 If you stole to sell merchandise for Drugs you could plead you're an addict and need treatment. It's not an excuse but it's at least an explanation. I hope you search deep into your soul and determine your priorities in life. Jail is no fun place and believe me when I say I know. Some people learn their lesson in life and stay away from crimes. Others, repeat their mistakes and use the revolving door in Prison to come and go in and out of Prison many years of their lives. Getting into Prison is easy but getting out and staying out are another matter. Most Paroles end up back in the system. It's designed that way for you to fail and I hope for your sake you can stay away from Prison altogether. It's time to face the Piper and admit your crimes to your P.O. I really hope you're able to catch a break and learn from this lesson in life. Good Luck!

People are misinformed. Jobs don't know if you went to prison or not. Even if you only take probation you will be issued a DOC number so it will be on your record if you opt out to jail or not. Now the only problem is have you been to jail before? Can you handle jail? Many people don't know but your more likely to be assaulted (physically or sexually ) in a county jail than in a state or federal prison. I always hear its only jail it's not prison and that's the first ones sucking stick. Plus jails don't separate you by what offense you committed. Every jail I've ever been to you will have people in there for traffic violations mixed with rapist and murderers. Fights and rapes really do happen in jail. One of the jails that I was in HOD / OPP was shut down for that reason.

Get some legal advise quick. An attorney could file some well worded paper work with your PO while trying to get the new charges dropped. Check with legal aid and local charities for help.

Your PO probably already knows about the arrest. he is just waiting for you to fess up. He may also be waiting for a court date while not mentioning it to you. Not likely he would be able to conceal it if he had knowledge. Unless he likes you well enough to lose his/her job.

You need to speak to your probation officer and let him know that you made a bad decision when you decided to steal. The longer you wait to speak to him/her the worst it's going to get for you.

I hope you learned your lesson.
