I haven't really studied it enough to make much of an opinion on it, but I think it's a definite possibility.
I was reading about the Sagittarius galaxy, and how the milky way galaxy is eating it. It's also believed that we might not even be from the milky way originally. We were from Sagittarius, and the milk way pulled us in. Anyways. Apparently it's going to suck in another planet or space rock of some sort that is going to come so close to earth that it's going to screw with gravity, or hit us.
It's all just theory. I'm sure December 12, 2012 will be an interesting either way.

I take it because of the category this is under, you're speaking of all the various prophesies about the end of the world?
Assuming that...
There have been so many people, groups, and prophesies that have talked about the end of the world that its pretty ridiculous.
What difference would it make if the world ended in 2012? Sure, I wouldn't get to see my kids grow up (assuming I have kids by then), and that makes me sad, but come on?
Since this is in religion and spirituality I think we should all know that we should live every day like it might be our last. We're not guaranteed tomorrow, let alone the year of 2012.
So, don't get worked up, don't become scared, just live like you know you should.

It falls precisely between the years 2011 and 2013. Beyond that, it's ALL speculation.

Right after 2011, right before 2013.
Okay... NOW I'm worried. Primoa will be 42, and we all know that the answer to the great question is 42. Co-incidence? I THINK NOT!

It's way to far in advance to think about. As far as the Mayan calender thing, I see no reason to worry about a calendar ending or their primitive belief that their age would end then.
I find it irrational to assume that less developed people would somehow be more "spiritually" advanced or more "prophetic".
