I have Allergic rhinitis too,
it can be due to dust or pollen or foods...
1. Consult an ENT
2. Do NOT take antihistamines without consultation
Antihistamines are H2 blockers which affect the prostaglandin production... a HIGH dose may lead to gastric irritation or bleeding!

It seems like u have allergic rhinitis. main symptoms include, sneezing bouts and nasal obstruction, loss of smell, can lead to sinusitis later.
Allergic rhinitis can be precipitated at any time, the allergen can be immediately allergic or the body can take time to produce the antibodies to cause the allergic reactions
Am not pin pointing that its ur cats, but go see a ENT specialist and ask about an allergy test to see whats causing the disease.
Please dont take antihistamines without asking a doctor, some of the drugs mentioned in the other answers can make u drowsy and delay reflexes, so will be dangerous when driving.

I don't know what it is, but it's going around. I'm in Canada but friends in the US are down with this too, so I think it's some kind of bug. If it's allergies, maybe the mold spores are mutating too, because it's lodged in good and refuses to go away and all my kids are down with it.
I've been taking vitamin C with zinc and so far it's been brewing but hasn't hit me like it has them. That is my secret weapon. But if you don't start it the minute you get the first sign of a cold and take it for a couple of days it won't help. Usually nips it in the bud or keeps it from getting really bad.
Make saline solution (pinch of salt in warm water) and suck it up your nose (not too deep that you choke). It will kill the bacteria. Do it twice daily.

I guess it's kinda allergic of something. Consult your nearest specialist doctor for ears and nose (not sure how it is called in English but doctors specializes this kind of sickness). The doctor may either give you a nose spray medicine or if it is available in your country, you might have a "laser treatment" for that. Laser is really effective but this is only done if you will request from the doctor to perform it. Payment can be covered thru your health insurance card by percentage of the total amount.

Allergies take time to build up in the body. I would guess the cats are sensitizing you to hay fever.
