So yup... I'm getting one tomorrow, after a long decision of wondering if I should get an Xbox 360 or a PS3... played both of them for a few hours last week at my cousins and decided that a PS3 is definitely what I want. Plus I have a PS2 and I liked that a lot...

So could you please tell me the basics, what should I know? Like setting it up, is it difficult? And I know an update just came out for it, how do I do that? And anything extra you think would be helpful for me to know!

Thanks!

DO NOT buy one of those cooling fans that connects to the PS3, the PS3 will not overheat unless you have it in a confined area where the system cannot exhaust the heat from the unit.
The only thing you may want to look at is what kind of connections your TV has, and what to purchase to connect the machine to your TV. If your TV for instance has HDMI, then you'll want to pick up an HDMI cable, although you don't need to buy the monster cable or anything like that, there are cheaper places to buy the HDMI cables online. If you're connecting to a receiver (stereo) you may need an optical cable for that as well. Other than that everything else is pretty easy, connect to tv, and plug it in and turn it on. The only other thing with getting it connected to do the update downloads is if you have high speed internet service, set it up for wireless, or wired connection, when you try to sign on to the PSN (playstation network) it will require that you download and install the update.

Setting it up is easy. If you have HDTV - HDMI cables sold separately. Get a second controller - you'll need it for friends. As answers above say - DON'T buy intercoolers - they make everything worse. Iа you're planning to surf a web from PS3 - get USB keyboard (easier to type with it).

Don't worry you'll have all your answers in the manual book. Whatever you do don't buy an intercooler or any other cooling fan that straps onto the PS3.

there is not any thank you to get PS2 backwards compatibility at this factor. The gadget would not have an Emotion Chip it is the source of PS2 compatibility. Emotion Chips have been taken out of extra moderen PS3 fashions to shrink production expenditures (alongside with different valuable properties), which led to cost drops.

Do not get a fan! It will cause it to break. If you have an hdtv, you want to get hdmi cables. You might also want an extra controller
