What is the non-profit, faith-based reason for Mormons to be able to declare that Jesus Christ had a twin brother, Satan?

Mormonism is one of the state approved official non-profit religions according to the Bush, Jr. Texas Methodist White House.

George Bush, Jr.'s - the USA Supreme Court's reasoning is what?

Their reasoning is that ANY religion can declare nearly ANYTHING at all as part of their doctrine. That's how the law works.

I know they use to teach that satan and Jesus are brothers. I have had LDS members tell me so. And the mormon church is a satanic cult. How can Jesus and satan be brothers when in John 1:3 clearly states that Jesus made all things, not God the Father?

uh...i'm Mormon...i actually prefer Latter Day Saint because my church's name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints....and we have never claimed that Satan was Jesus' twin brother. For one thing, Satan doesn't even have a body. That is false and whoever you heard it from needs to do some research on what the LDS church believes (preferably from a LDS member or this website www.lds.org *the official website* because that is the only way you will truly know what we believe in)

We never said they were twins. They are spirit brothers. In the sense that God created all of us, and in so doing, we are all spirit brothers or sisters.

To the person who said that if we don't pay tithing, they kick you out of the church, and won't let you buy property. ARE YOU KIDDING??????? You have no idea what you are talking about!!! I live in Utah. I am LDS. Tithing is something we give freely, it isn't monitored, and we aren't forced to pay it. They don't kick you out of the church for not paying tithing. If you never paid a penny, you could still be in the church. You wouldn't be able to enjoy the blessings of the temple, or hold a temple recommend, but you would still be a member of the church. What do you think they do? Call EVERY SINGLE employer of EVERY SINGLE member to get employment info to verify you are paying enough? Come on!!!! That wouldn't even be feasable.

Just so you know, not everything in Ut. is run by the church! You are so up in the night about this stuff it isn't even funny! How are they going to even know if you buy property? Unless you tell someone, there would be no way for them to know. And honestly, no one cares!!

That's right, the church is non-profit. That is a status the government gives churches. Might want to check on your religion too. Might be surprised to find out that yours is too.

If all businesses were run the way the church runs, every business or investment would make money. Just so everyone is aware, everything the church is doing- the mall, downtown renovation- isn't paid for with tithing. Tithing is used for building meeting houses, temples. Some of the money we give is also used to help others in need. The church has a great humanitarian system, and is usually one of the first to respond after a disaster.

I was born and raised mormon and we were never taught he was Jesus' TWIN.
Just his brother who had his own plan for humanity that strayed from God the fathers plan.

As for non-profit....boy you are WAY off base. The church has billions of dollars they use to finance things such as a new fancy mall and other investments and such. Faithful members also give them 10% of their monthly income (as in every paycheck they give that much).

ETA to Scott~Although I dont know of any going that far, like you described, I do know you can be very ostracized if you dont do things just so. My parents werent faithful tithe payers because of financial burdens but they werent ostracized. However, if you question or leave the church those things have been well known to happen.

We don't. We claim that Jehovah and all mankind were Lucifer's spiritual siblings, the Spiritual children of Heavenly Father.

Never have we claimed that they are Twins born of Mary. We don't teach that Lucifer was ever born to anyone.

Non-Proft? LMAO. Right. Have you seen the churches, the temples, the food storage centres, THE MALL?! Non-Profit my ***. Maybe Non-PROPHET.

Anyways. They believe in the pre-existance, before we came to earth, there was a great meeting. Jesus wanted everyone to be able to come to earth and prove there love for God, so they could become perfect like him, and become God's of their own worlds. Satan, or he was called Lucifer then, did not agree with this. He didn't want to allow people free will, but to make them obey by nature, so that everyone is saved. God didn't agree with this, and cast him out into "outer darkness" (hell) along with 1/3 of the spirits that agreed with him. The rest of us, get a chance to come to earth to prove oursevles and become perfect.

We believe that Heavenly Father created my spirit, your spirit, Jesus' spirit (and 1/2 body), and Satan's spirit. In that sense, we believe that Jesus and Satan are spiritual brothers along with you and me.

He was never a twin. We believe that we are all spiritual children of God. That is why we refer to each other as "Brother" and "Sister".

Sarah R - they regarded Jesus as a prophet, not as their savior.

That is Islam, not the L.D.S.

There are going to be many false religions and things are going to even get worse than they already are for the true believers in christ. Satan is seperating the weeds from the wheat.
