Yep, that's safe to say. Not that many cars on Kauai, only about 30 miles of road. Constant trade winds.

I live on Kauai.

It's a great place! No, we don't have the pollution problems that most mainland cities have. Kauai is green and lush and most of us don't want the land developed. If you decide to move here, accept the land and the people the way they are and you'll be welcomed. I am a haole from California and I love things the way they are here. I am a speech therapist in the schools and parents often seem embarrassed when their children speak Pidgin or don't say certain sounds "correctly" (Standard American English). I tell them that Pidgin is a dialect and there is nothing wrong with it -- no reason to apologize for it! :) It's part of what makes our islands so diverse and special...just like other dialects in countries all over the world. I don't try to "fix" the way our children speak if they use Pidgin. It's special and should be preserved...just like the land and the Hawaiian culture.

Was just there on vacation and talked with some locals. Their only problems with living on Kauai are the absolutely horrible cost of living and the low wages. Otherwise it's a wonderful place.
