Jesus gave us a way to atone for past sins. Since sin requires a blood sacrifice Hebrews 9:23, Jesus through His blood offered a way to atone for our sins by being the complete sacrifice Hebrews 10:1-3, 10 and 1 John 1:7. We just need to be united with His blood which is found in His death, look at Romans 6:3-11. It is though His resurrection that we are born again 1 Peter 1:3 and Jesus made that a requirement in John 3:3. Notice that baptism is for the forgiveness of sins this is shown in Acts:2:37-38, Acts 22:16, and 1 Peter 3:20-21. In Galatians 3:27, it shows how we get into Christ which according to 2 Corinthians 5:17 says if we are in Jesus our past misdeeds are gone. Also look at Romans 8:1. Baptism is also not a work that we do so that we can say we did something to get rid of our sin, but it is a work of God, Colossians 2:12. I hope this helps.

There is no "atonement" per say. One must take responsibility for one's actions, make amends...weregild/compensation if you will, be it financial or other...and try to put good layers in the well on top of the bad. There is no "do over", no "wiping the slate clean", no "fresh start", once it is done, it is done and it is a part of your future luck...haminja...All you can do is try to offset the bad action(s) with good and continue to put good on top, one cannot simply erase what has happened, there is no "forgiveness", what's done is done and will always be there. It is up to the individual however to determine how much of an effect the past deed will have on his future. One can only hope to do good deeds from that point on.

You can't atone for them It takes the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ to do that for you. He paid the sin debt for sin and is the only way to have your sin blotted out. In the Bible is says. If you believe in thine heart (that's a gift for God the ability to believe) and confess with thine mouth ( also a gift) the Jesus rose from the dead ( You must have had a transforming experience with Christ) Thou shalt be saved. That is from your past, present, and future sins. But to try in yourself to atone from sins in futile, and can never be done, because we all sin every day. So you would wear yourself out trying to make up for all of them. By Grace you are saved through faith in Jesus Christ not of yourself lest any man should boast. Ephesians is a good book in the bible to read if you have had this kind of experience with Christ. If not Pray that He will come to where you are and save your soul.

If there a many, do a “blanket repentance”. God’s intelligent and knows we would probably forget some among many. Once you do that, those sins are blotted out and God does not wish for you to bring them up again. To do so is like saying that Christ cannot forgive sins ... crucifying Him over again. Once was enough.

Just ask God to forgive you. Think of it this way in Earthly terms "The charges have been dropped!"
There is no need to atone!

You confess them to God and ask for forgiveness. Then you go back to any person injured by your actions, or to whom you owe money, and deal with it to make things right. It's often hard to do, but a clean heart is worth it.
