Because they need a few months off. Just like football or baseball. they don't play all year. Racing started in the SOUTH. and racing in canada?? is there even enough season to race up there?? i have not met any kanooks that acctually LIKE racing and follow it.

Actually, Scotia Speedworld in Nova Scotia holds a stock car race every New Year's Day no matter what the weather is. However, that's more of stunt like a soapy track race or a school bus race than a real points race. Like the other answer said, the problem is fans aren't likely to turn out in droves when it's cold. There is no technical reason why a stock car couldn't be tuned to run in cold air. Obviously though, no wipers and ice on the track might be an issue!

There is plenty of stock-car racing that goes on Arizona, etc. all winter, but every circuit needs some down time for the participants to have a break. It's one thing for the drivers who are making big money to race every weekend, what about the transporter driver or tire technician who wants some family time? If you like racing in winter conditions why don't you follow WRC or ice-racing?

Would you wanna sit at New Hampshire in December or January. The stands would be empty. Being from New England, we're in the 30's already, and it's November. NASCAR doesn't race in the rain, they'll never race in the snow.

Come on...every sport takes a break, these car's can't run in the snow, yeah it would be fun...Actually, it did snow at Bristol, and Kurt Busch did snow angels after the race... I can just see fans sitting out in the stands in Loudon, or Michigan in the snow..NOT.. I don't think Nascar fans are like Packer fans, who can sit out in the frozen seats with snow, sleet, ice.. Don't you guys in Canada have snow mobile racing in the winter to occupy your need for speed in the snow... Come on Nascar drivers need a break to be with their families and friends, but they also spend alot of testing time in the off season to get ready for the next season...

I as well would love to see this go on year round. However, everyone needs some time off. These guys & gals only get about 2 months off to begin with & they need all of that. Besides, what is better than the anticipation of Daytona, baby!!! It would be cool to see them slidin' around up north in January, though.

Every Sports Season has an ending. There would be No purpose to Ending the Season on December 31st and starting a New Season on January 1st. If you want wrecks and slippery Track Conditions try a Demolition Derby!!!!!

Because at some point the drivers, crews, officials, etc need a break. Oh and slick tires aren't good on snow! lol

And they only get one month (December) off, testing starts up again in January.

It would be cool to race all year long but they need a break like every other sport

Probably because the drivers and all of the other employees could use a break.
