You don't see too many people nowadays sporting a cheongsam or a qipao in HK, only on special occasions but I find it so beautiful...is there anything more elegant and classy than a simple red qipao on a Chinese woman?

By the way, neither the cheongsam nor the qipao are culturally Han Chinese. The traditional Han costume was the Hanfu, which disappeared with the Qing Dynasty (the last dynasty, from the 1600s to the early 1900s, of Manju culture) who imposed the use of the Manju qipao on its Han subjects. Nevertheless, the qipao and cheongsam have now become icons of traditional Chinese fashion all over the world and young designers, especially in HK and Shanghai, have been inspired by the traditional qipao design to create modern yet classic pieces.
