you forget about the beta testiing between production units.

more to the point, I recently got to level 4 after a long struggle for survival on YA. If that's not evolution, what is?

Well first of all, sorry to hear about your old Playstation 2... ALL PS3's can play PS1 games. Period. Now it gets pretty interesting when it comes to the PS2 games. There are many types of PS3's out there, but only two types are still in stores. I will sort them by GB. -20GB: Has 4 USB slots, and can play ALL PS2 games. -40GB: Has 2 USB slots, and CAN'T play PS2 games. -60GB: Known to be the best PS3. Pretty much because it has a lot of memory, and can play ALL PS2 games, and has 4 USB slots. Now it might get kind of confusing. Sony had made 2 different 80GB PS3's. Only one of them is on stores. The old 80GB (one that is NOT on stores right now): Has 4 USB slots, and it can play PS2 games, but not all of the PS2 games, so this one is kind of hard to rely on if you want it to play all of your PS2 games. The new 80GB (one that IS on stores right now): Has 2 USB slots, and can't play PS2 games. 160GB: This one is not that great since people never find themselves needing that much memory, and it's expensive, and it can't play PS2 games. It also has 2 USB slots. It is on stores right now. So if you want a brand new PS3, you can only buy the new 80GB, and the 160GB. The others, however, you can still find on gamestop, which is a store (lol), but only used ones. You can also buy those on eBay, Amazon, and other places online. You can buy the ones that are not on stores online, and you might find them in a NEW condition, but it would be expensive. You might be thinking why the ones on stores are worse than the old ones, if new things are supposed to be better. The reason Sony took out the emulator (the thing that lets you play PS2 games) and the 2 additional USB slots, is because when the PS3's had all that, they were very expensive, and people just couldn't afford it, and Sony lost too much money. So they couldn't just drop the prices like that with leaving all that good stuff inside, so they took it out, so that it won't hurt them even more. I would recommend getting a used PS2 for now, and then later, try to save some money for the PS3, because it is awesome, and better.

The slimline PS2.

Just like the SNES1, the PS1 (not the original Playstation), etc. There are many 'transitional fossils' in the console world.

As stated above, also the 60gb PS3 which has both PS2 and PS3 hardware. The fully evolved form is the 80gb PS3 which only has a PS2 emulator. The 40gb with no compatibility would be a failed sub-species that lacked an important characteristic of survival.

(Jenae: The PSP is another offshoot leg on the tree. Its like a miniature poodle.)

The 60gb model is the transitional fossil between the PS2 and the 40gb PS3. The evidence is clear in that the 60gb model can play PS2 games. There is even evidence of a split between two distinct species of 60gb model - one that has the emotion engine cpu and one that doesn't. The species without the EE cpu is shown to have begun appearing in Europe and Australia but spread to the rest of the world in much the same way as the 40gb model did recently.

Surely this proves evolution.

PS2 and PS3 were created by people and by design, a bit like religions and the bible were created by people. Life was not created by people nor was it created by design. Hence it only took 7 years between when the PS2 was released and when the PS3 was released. However it took 4 billion years to get life to this stage.

PS2 to PS3 is just exactly the same as biological evolution!

That's the playstation 2.5. No fossils yet, but we've hypothesised it based on molecular similarities.
