I used to work in retail myself so can really sympathise with your boyfriend (and yourself with the whole weekends thing).

Has he considered working in head office of retail - customer service department, HR department, IT support department.

Try looking at Universities for admin jobs or IT support jobs. There are loads of great recruitment websites you could have a look at and sign up to to get jobs sent by email. There are some websites where you can do personality testing too where they will assess his preferences and come up with lists of jobs that would be suited to his choices and ideas.

Try these:
www.monster.co.uk
www.totaljobs.co.uk
www.jobs.ac.uk (university jobs)
www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk
www.fish4jobs.co.uk
www.cv-library.co.uk
www.reed.co.uk
Look at the local council websites too for job vacancies they have.

You could also get your boyfriend to make an appointment with a local recruitment / temping agency. They will likely offer career advice. If he has been to college / university recently then use the careers service there.

Good luck
