I cannot get the point the last sentence says. Anyone can help?

Around the world and throughout history, people have used certain foods as aphrodisiacs, meaning substances that reduce inhibitions and/or produce pleasurable feelings and sensations that could lead one to feel sexually aroused. There is no scientific evidence to show that aphrodisiacs really work. [Regardless, the power of suggestion, psychologically and emotionally, is key]

In other words, if you trully believe it will do something for you, it will whether a scientist in a lab can prove it works or not. The next time you get a prescription medication, look at the package insert (you may have to ask for this) and look at the trials. Many placebo's work almost as well as the medication you are taking. Placebos are just sugar pills. The power of the medication is in your mind. Understand?

Basically it's saying that it's not scientific or chemically doing anything to us as far as they know. Instead, it is just a perceived thing that should happen according to our mind. A general Pavlovian response per se. If it happens often enough to you, you'll believe it true... even if it's fake. Kinda like yawning around people causes them to yawn more often or the image of a man in a black cloak and hood with a scythe will conjure up the image of death in anyone. Even medicine alot of times will use this in the form of a placebo measurement. Hope that helps.

Essentially it means that whether something is scientifically proven to work or not, if you are mentally convinced something will work, generally, it will.
