here's how to do it, drain all the coolant out of it ,in to a pan remove all the belts ,then remove all the brackets that bolt to it to get them out of the way ,then remove the fan and then the water pump, then remove all the blots to the front cover ,use a harmonic balance puller to remove the harmonic balance, then remove the cover, once the cover is off and out of the way you have a clear shot at the chain and gears, turn the engine so the marks line up then remove the bolts that hold the top gear on,then pull the top gear and bottom gear off with the chain as a unit, make sure you don't turn the engine none while doing this, then clean the cover really good, then re-install the new gears and chain as a unit, start both of them on at the same time, and continue putting them on until they are as far as they will go,then put the bolts back in the top gear, then start re-installing all that you took off, take your time with it,make sure all bolts are clean and go in all the way and tighten up real good, one other thing that might help you here is a good repair manual, other wise continue to put it all back together ,check all the bolts really good,re-install everything in the revers order you took them out,and fill it back with coolant and start it,let it idle for several minutes to warm up and check for leaks,if you have none that means you did it right, good luck on it,these i can do in my sleep, take your time you,ll do alright.

Try to find an old copy of some repair manuals like the Motor Auto Repair Manual (by Hearst Publishing, NY.) I have the one for 1975 and the exact steps will be in it.

I assume the Haynes auto repair manuals will have the same info.

Try finding it on AbeBooks.com. There's 100 million books there.
