Oxycontin is a sustained release formulation of oxycodone. Tylox and Percocet have an immediate release formulation of oxycodone. As far as which has more oxycodone, it would depend on the dosage form of the percocet. Both tylox and percocet are combination drugs with both oxycodone and acetaminophen. the dose is written for tylox as 5mg of oxycodone and 500 mg of acetaminophen or 5/500. Percocet comes as 2.5/325, 5/325 & 7.5/325. So the Percocet could have more, less or the same amount of oxycodone.

percoset comes in strengths as high as 10mgs,7.5,5,2.5mgs...these are both oxycodone..1 has Tylenol in it Oxycontin don't...even though Oxycontin is time released it is not as strong as oxycodone as percoset..percoset hits you full plasma 90 min...were Oxycontin hits you a little for a totale of 8-12 hrs depending on the strength.....i hope this answers your question!!!!!

i had percostat for my c section and it worked within 40 min for me but for 4-6 hrs, now hubby had tylox, and it took 60-90min. for it to work and 6hrs later he was up in pain again. he had a root canal. don't know the pain comparison, but i am sure a c-section with STAPLES might hurt more.
