Not at all. In fact, it's much better than living under an oppressive Islamic regime, where public display of "un-Islamic" thought and /or behavior can land you in jail, beaten, or in some cases, a grave.

It's not a sin to think about something... in fact you should not be afraid of thinking about your doubts and addressing them. But don't just ruminate over them or talk to friends...instead try to do research (read the Qur'an, sunnah) and seek knowledge so you can better understand the issue you are wondering about and formulate an informed opinion.

Doubting is a normal part of faith, and it comes to everyone at some point. Don't worry about the fact that you are doubting in itself, just look for information and examples that will resolve your questions. Prayer may also help calm your doubts as you ask for more faith, understanding, and guidance. People face different kinds of temptations according to their nature, and how they deal with them is the real test of their faith... this makes them stronger than never having faced and resisted the temptation in the first place.

It is Satan who instills bad thoughts in people mids.
Prophet Muhammad said :"ALLAH HAS FORGIVEN MY UMMAH (COMMUNITY) THAT WHICH COMES TO THEIR MINDS IF THEY DONT SPEAK IT OUT OR ACT UPON IT"

Thus, you should not reinforce those thoughts. Working upon those thoughts is a sin.
You can probably recalla Quranic verse or a hadith when such thoughts conme to your mind.
