do you have to buy regular windows vista to be able to use this upgrade, or does it upgrade XP into windows vista?

Zahid you completely misread the question. Im asking will it upgrade my windows XP up to vista or do i need to buy the basic windows vista program in order to ultize the ultimate upgrade.

As long as your computer is running Windows XP, you can upgrade to the newest Windows Vista (Basic, Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate Edition). Most consumers will purchase the Home Premium edition but if you want the best the Ultimate Edition is the grandest of them all.
