The Garden of Eden story most certainly was an allegory written for a very simple and unscientific people not very far removed from the Stone Age. So the question is moot.

(But IF it WERE literally true, then this would be just one more of *many* hypocritical contradictions that exist in the Bible.)

Genesis 5:4 in my Bible says that Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters. Genesis 6:4 tells of others who lived on earth. Perhaps understanding of actual conditions is lacking. We are not told directly whether these lived on earth while Adam and Eve lived in the garden. All we know is that men multiplied as directed.
Law had not been delivered at this point in development. Is it fair to accuse of incest? Genetic perfection had just been introduced to death, so decay and mutation would have been of little concern.

"Incest" during the beginning is not applicable. It is God's commandment for them to go on and multiply.

And no, they have a lot of children even before Abel and Cain and Seth. These three just happened to be popularly mentioned.

But if you do propagate with your own flesh and blood these days, then that is incest because there is no need for it now... too many peopl in the world right now..

it quite is plausible that he already had a spouse in the previous he exchange into forged out. His spouse in all likelihood could have been a sister of his. back then brothers and sisters might have had to marry as there have been no persons on earth. Even right this moment whilst 2 human beings marry they're of "one blood" as all of us descended from Adam and Eve. even nevertheless, God did no longer provide the regulation forbidding marriage between close kin till the time of Moses some 4 hundred years later.

1. Adam and Eve had many children, not just two- see Genesis 5:2-4. They also lived a very long time, which means they most likely had a lot of kids.
2. Incest was not condemned until much later because mutations had not -and would not- yet made any impact on the human Gene pool.
3. It was only when the mutations -a result of God's curse on everything created- that incest was prohibited. Therefore, there was no sin of incest involved because God had not yet condemned this as sin.

It is wrong to believe that Adam & Eve has only 2 children.
Remember they lived long.

Genesis 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

Genesis 5:4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

The Bible names three sons that Adam and Eve had and other sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4 NIV). Therefore, marriage between brother and sister was necessary in the beginning. Later, because the results of the fall increased and inter family marriages multiplied the biological weaknesses in the children, this type of marriage was forbidden (Lev 18:6,9 NIV)

Actually, there was incest. Cain took one of his sisters as his wife and fled. Adam and Eve had many other kids. And in the beginning, incest had to take place. This was BEFORE God commanded the Israelites to refrain from incest. But, of course, eventually he commanded them to abstain from this act.

Adam and Eve had a 3rd son, named Seth. Seth probably got his wife from the same place Cain did.

It wasn't considered incest then sweetie. It was the only way that man could be fruitful and multiply. The bloodline was completely pure at that time.

Adam lived 930 yeras and likely had hundreds of children.
