i wanna get a six-pack soon...i've been trying to reduce the fat, as many have advised. i'm doing leg-lifts for 20 minutes every other day. is that good? should i incorporate other sorts of ab exercises? i have nothing; no equipment, just my bare hands. yeah, what are the difference between leg lifts and crunches?

with crunches the abdominals do the majority of the work with leg lifts the muscles of the hip flexors are performing most of the work. leg lifts, flutter kicks, etc. only stimulate the abdominals isometrically. which basically means that the muscle is activated by not lengthened or shortened. isometric exercises are the least efficient out of eccentric, concentric and isometric

obtaining a six pack is all about low body fat and the diet. you don't even need to do abdominal training to get a six pack as it has no effect on fat stores in the mid-section it only strengthens the muscles.

They both pretty much exercise the abdominal muscles the same way. The reverse crunch does, however, require more strength than the leg lift, and therefore allows for more progression. It doesn't take much strength before you're able to manage more than 20 leg lifts at a time, which means although you're increasing your endurance, you're doing little for actual strength/muscle development. Most people, even when using a heavy counterweight, won't be able to manage more than 12 reps at a time of the reverse crunch. When you do get strong enough to manage 20+ at a time, all you do is reduce the weight on the counterweight, or just take the counterweight away altogether. Doing reverse crunches without a counterweight whilst keeping your body still is extremely challenging.

You know what leg lifts are because you are doing them. Crunches are like sit ups, but you don't go all the way up. Crunches will get you a six pack, just don't strain yourself.

Leg lifts focus on the lower portion of the stomach muscles and crunches focus on the upper portion.

You should lower calories and do cardio for at least 20-30minutes a day. Factor in some weight resistance and you will start seeing results soon. You could always put a weight on your chest and do sit ups or crunches that way. You will build more muscle by applying more weight. Do not over do it, though.

If you are going to strengthen the abdominal muscles, make sure you balance what you are doing for maximum impact. Cruches in the same plane as a situp are okay, but add in some twists that work the area beneath what ever is left of your love handles. Diet is king, though!
