If you have this desire then ask God to guide you to understanding. A person that does not know Christ have trouble understanding His word.
In God's word it says, " If any lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault and it will be given to him. James 1: 5.
Don't give up, when God sees that your heart desire is to understand His word He will lead you.
Being His servant is a process of maturing in His word,
The first time I understood the Book of Daniel, I knew then there was a need I had within me to understand and I'm still learning everyday.
I really enjoy Bible Prophecy. The Bible is the present, past and future.
We are in the last days, as the word of God says, the end of the age. Trust Him. Reading His word and Praying daily will put a song in your heart!

Dear Josh L,
There are a number of tools that can help you understand the Bible. First i want to advise you though to have a patient heart- there have been people that have been studying the Bible for years- and there is a lifetime of knowledge to learn. The Bible tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom.
The purpose of learning the Bible is to know God. And wisdom comes from following the Bible and not necessarily in how much of it you know. Although it out of love for God that people geninuely study the Bible.
That being said there are a number of tools:
*A Bible based church- there are many in your area- if you want to email i can help you find one. I've seen other posts for the watchtower.org (be careful of any organization that says they are the only truth! The Bible encourages us to study the Bible for ourselves). Join a small group and examine the Bible and ask questions.
*Bible Commentatries: There are good commentaries that explain the Bible and i can also reccommend some good choices for you.
*Online help: websites like:
blueletterbible.org
biblegateway.com
*Additionally there are books that help us with specific topics.
*Feel free to email me anytime and i will try to help you with your Bible questions or refer you to reliable resources.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

Pro 9:10 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy [is] understanding.

Here's how you understand it. You have to realize that it is a work of fiction (for the most part).
I believe in God, but God did not right the Bible (oh, fundamentalist Christians, I am begging you to try to prove me wrong!).
The Bible should only be looked at as metaphors by which to live your life.
Peace.

There is a scripture in the Bible that says James 1:5 - If any of you lacks wisdom he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will will be given to him. I suggest that you just seek God in His Word & especially prayer. As you draw near to Him... He will draw near to you. There are also many Bible studies that you can get involved with in your local church.

Blessings,

Having said that, I must add that it is ultimately God who reveals Himself to you through the Bible, so study it prayerfully and with a humble heart. Ask God to give you His wisdom as you go along.

Get an in home Bible study with jehovah's Witnesses. It is the ONLY WAY you will ever learn the TRUTH about God and his provisions. They will not lie to you and they will use scriptures to back up everything they say. Call your local Kingdom Hall for more info.
