I would like to purchase an electric piano. I've played piano since I was in first grade and would love to buy a real piano...but it wouldn't work too well in my apartment. I want an electric piano that really sounds and feels like a real piano when I play it. Any suggestions for good brands/models of electric pianos?

Roland makes great electric pianos, so does Yamaha. No matter what brand, look for weighted keys and touch sensitive. I bought a yamaha electric upright piano for my home, looks and feels like a real piano, only i can use headphones and never have to tune it-its great. I use a roloand for gigs (lighter).. my sugesstion is to go somewhere and try a few diff brands out to find the right sound that you want.

It's tough to use 200.00, keyboard and decent in the same sentence. Be that as it may, you can get a unit that's just OK for about 200. You're probably limited to 5 octaves and definitely non weighted (the feel of real piano keys). I have a Yamaha PSR E213 knock around that has some bells and whistles and it serves it's limited purpose.

I like the Roland 700sx - its close to $2,000, but it has "graded hammer action" (the keys for the bass notes feel "heavier" and the keys for the treble notes feel "lighter" to push down). I think that it can even be adjusted, or even turned off, but its a full 88 keys, you don't have to change strings on it, and it will have a decent resale value if you decide to change your mind. You have to actually play one to see if you like the way it feels - for that you might have to go to a bigger city (?) where they have one you can try out. If I were buying a "stage piano" (what they are called) this is the keyboard that I would buy.
