Go with the .40. The .40 has the same or nearly the same magazine capacity of the 9mm, with nearly the stopping power of a .45.

The 9mm while trendy, doesn't have the reliable knockdown power of the .40. Which is why almost all law enforcement departments are now mandating a minimum caliber of .40 and are phasing out the 9mm almost entirely.

But then that is from a purely defensive standpoint. If you are only going to be using this for a target shooter/plinker only, then go with the 9mm. Your shots will be slightly more accurate and the ammo is cheaper than with the .40.

Personally I would go with the .40 but that's just my professional opinion.

Glock 40 Caliber

Well, the .40 may have a bit more pop or 'hitting power', I still think the best bet is the 9mm. The variety of flavors you can get for ammo is ridiculous, that can hardly be said for the .40.
Other than that, a Glock is a Glock is a Glock.
Check out the CCI Shot Shells, I think it comes in both flavors. OUCH!!!!!

I personally do not like .40 cals. They have too much snap in the recoil. Both .45ACP and 9mm are smoother in line of recoil. I would go with 9mm. It is very under rated.
Also, before you buy Glock, look at Springfield Armory XDs. They are similar to Glocks but with better safeties and have a better feel to them. A little heavier for a little less recoil and are natural pointers. More accurate. Be safe...

40 Mm Glock

The 9mm will have a higher velocity, but less punch, that is why I use the full size Glock model 22 in .40S&W.

I own bot Glocks and they are both fine weapons. Without knowing you or your skill level with weapons I wouyld reccommend the 9mm for a lady, the .40 has a fair bit more recoil than the 9mm but I would feel safe when armed with either.

Glock 40 cal , more powerful

This is going to depend on you more than anything.

Both pistols are the same size.

the 40 is going to have more recoil.

the 40 is considered a better manstopper, but the 9 (using hollowpoint ammo) is a sufficient manstopper as well.

the 9's ammo is going to be cheaper

Price of the pistol should be the same for either

Ultimately which is best will come down to which one you are more accurate with. So get to the range (where you can rent them) and start firing.
