They kept getting their land stolen. It was the land they believe is promised to them by God through the covenant of Isaac. Ahmad seems to forget this.

A critical point was the destruction of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem by Rome in the year 70 CE. Rome brutally conquered Israel and oppressed the Jews for the next few hundred years.

Following a failed Jewish revolt to kick the Romans out of Israel, Rome destroyed Jerusalem and built a pagan Roman city in its place called Aelia, and they renamed the country Palestina (after the extinct Philistines, as a insult to the Jews, since the Philistines were a traditional enemy of the Jews).

Many Jews stayed within Israel, but most Jews fled Israel and settled in other places in the middle east, such as Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula.

The Arab Moslems who now call themselves "Palestinians" are mostly descendants of Arab migrants from Egypt, Syria, and other places in Araby who moved to Palestine during the Jewish reclamation of the land starting in the mid-1800s.

The original Israel was effectively subsumed by the empire of Alexander the Great, and later the Roman Empire. Although the Jewish people remained, they had only a nominal king and no independent power. Following the schism of the Roman Empire, the area fell under the reign of the Byzantine Empire. Following the rise of Islam, Jerusalem was conquered - and frequently subject to massacre - as Islamic and Christian armies fought over the area. Following the definitive conquest of Jerusalem by Caliph Uman II, Jews met one of three fates - they were murdered, fled, or were forcibly converted to Islam. A very few maintained the faith in secret, under constant threat of death. The area remained under Muslim domination for over 700 years as part of the Ottoman Empire.

Although the area has often been referred to as Palestine (after the Philistines), the people who call themselves 'Palestinians' today are largely the descendants of Jews; this is revealed by the fact that Ashkenazi Jews and so-called Palestinians are genetically almost identical, down to the mitochondrial level. No nation of 'Palestine,' nor such a cultural identity, has existed for over 2500 years. The PLO is entirely a construct of the Arab League whose only purpose is to serve as a deniable agent for the genocide of Israel.

I would interest you in a historical monument in Rome: The Arch of Titus

The Arch of Titus is a Pentelic marble triumphal arch with a single arched opening, located on the Via Sacra just to the south-east of the Forum in Rome. It was constructed by the emperor Domitian shortly after the death of his older brother Titus (born AD 41, emperor 79-81), commemorating the capture and sack of Jerusalem in 70, which effectively terminated the Jewish War begun in 66 (although the Romans did not achieve complete victory until the fall of Masada in 73).

The Arch of Titus has provided the general model for many of the triumphal arches erected since the 16th century.

Biblically Israel belonged to the Jews. Historically Israel belonged to the Jews until about the 7th century AD at which time it was conquered by the Muslims. It stayed Muslim until 1948 when the Israel/Jewish State was established by the United Nations in response to the Holocaust and worldwide quilt. 82% of the population of Israel is still Muslim.

The Jews rebelled against Rome in the first century, and Rome crushed them and disbursed them over the course of about 100 years. That's the spark behind the New Testament.

Basic history. The Romans razed Jerusalem in 70 CE after which the Jewish diaspora occurred.
The area of Palestine has been occupied by Arabic nomads ever since.
The Jews lived there for a few 100 years, the Arabs for a few 1000.
Who owns it? Well, Jewish "freedom fighters" used what we would call acts of terror against the British in their fight to form the modern nation of Israel. Does taking something with bloody force make it yours?
