I began working at a very young age and I worked many jobs that I didn't especially care for, but as you know, we do what we have to do because of the need we have for the all mighty dollar.
I had the idea that I would never find a job that I could say I loved.
Most of my jobs were dealing with the public.
When I was 42 we moved to a different city and found my self looking for a job.
Someone told me they needed help at the nursing home, so I applied and got the job contigent on taking a 6 week medical assistant class. They paid a wage while I took the class.
I might add that I got the highest grade of anyone who had ever taken the class.
After 6 weeks, I began working the night shift under the direction of Director of nursing.
I simply loved it. I decided that I adapted well taking care of the elderly.
I eventually received employee of the month and was given a very good raise and told not to let anyone know how much I was earning.
After a year and a half the place had to close down, to my sorrow.
I found another job working for the State. I was hired to work at the women's shelter.
Again to my surprise, I loved this job even more.
I was helping victims and their families of domestic violence.
With in 2 and a half years I became the Director of the Domestic Violence Program.
I found a job that I loved to go to everyday.
I worked this job for 16 years and then my health suddenly began to fail me.
I retired do to circumstances beyond my control and had to deal with my health.
I have been retired for 13 years now but I will never forget the people that I was able to help and so many of them have not forgotten me.
It was my dream job.
I found out a lot of things about myself.
I found that I had a need to be able to help someone and I was so fortunate to find my nitch in life.
It was to give service to those in need.
I hope everyone can find their nitch in life and enjoy their work.
I probably told you more that you want to know but it means a lot to me.
Thank you for your question, it took me back to a place I loved.

I like my job. The actual job. The extra stuff, co-workers, nasty customers, not so much. It is neither self-fulfilling nor what I expected to do in life. But it is the best job for me right at the moment.

None of the above.
Our perverted leaders talk about "purpose"--they interfere with each man's purpose.
they talk about a chosen profession--what choice, when you have to get through tyrannical bosses without definitions or ethics to get to enter a field?
You may get lucky. I hope you do.
I can outthink any man on planet ,by my lights--you don't have to believe me--but in forty years of trying, I never have had a single job worth doing, nor been paid as much as 10$ an hour.
I wish my experience were atypical; but in a country where 7 out of ten people never get to do what they wanted to do--it isn't unusual at all.
Thank you for asking.

My dream job is becoming a bloody nightmare. I have a nanny position and one of the children has Asperger's which is a high functioning autism. He has behavior problems and becomes really aggressive and abusive to everyone. I can cope with him and his brother just fine, it is the other nit picky stuff their father expects me to do when I do not have enough hours a day to do them. I signed on as a nanny/caregiver, not the man's maid.
