Chicken pox is contagious, and it can be very dangerous to pregnant women and their babies. They made the right decision. Before you get all upset over something and declare it to be 'bullshit', you might consider researching it first.

I am going to answer your question, on I, believe you are saying that your Kids, have the chicken Pox, and your in-Laws did not want to come over to your House, to see the Kids, because your Sis-in-Law is expecting a Baby, and they are worried that maybe she might catch the chicken Pox. Also, you are hurt that they are ignoring your Kids, now that they need some affection from their grandparents. First of all this disease, is contagious to a Pregnant Woman, because her Baby might catch it in the womb, and will have some deformities when it is Born. Second of all, I do not think your in-laws are ignoring your Children, they do not want to cause any heartache to their daughter, if they carry the infection to her. Remember that your in-laws are the Parents of your Husband, and if you want peace between them, I would let this hurt pass and concentrate in your children, to make them get better, and ignore whatever comments anyone might make to you about their sickness, all children do get the Chicken pox, sooner or later, so it is a common sickness in Kids. So, don't worry too much about it, Life is too short to have anger and hurt feelings between Families. I hope that your Children will get better soon.

If my grandmother is around chicken pox, she could die. So it CAN be serious. They are being extra-careful here on this not taking any risks of passing it along to the pregnant daughter.
Not sure if they have always been this way in general or if it's just now because of the chicken pox.... try not to worry about it if it's only because of the chicken pox.

Well you know something, I had a smaller thing like that happen to me, I have 3 boys the 1st 2 are 14 mouths apart from each other,my last 1 is 1 year younger then my 2ND son. Well one Thanksgiving marring guess what! YEP you got it all 3 of them woke up w/ the chickenpox. I cryed. I asked my Husband to call his brother and tell him that we could not come to dinner, well his sister in law got real real mad at me. She said that I plaid this, Now you and I know that you cant plain that kind of stuff right, I took it really hard. She said that my husband didn't have anything to do w/it at all,and it was all my fault.. So know I just say to myself that some family members are just really selfless and they fell sorry for them self so that's why they need to take it out on other family members that they don't like. That's How I Look @ it.

if i understand this right, i think they didnt want to come in and risk getting "contaminated" by something your children may have touched and then pass it to your preg sis in law...chicken pox(or any disease at that) can hurt a growing fetus...at least they came over with leaves to help..they could have not come at all

They are right to be concerned about harming the baby. Chicken pox can be much more serious than people realize. That is why we vaccinate for it now. .

i think they didnt want the children to give them chicken pox then the pox could have spread to your sister in law causing her to become sick there is little to no medicine to take while one is pregnant so they didnt want to risk getting her sick.

This is a rather common situation in many families. And the husband is sandiwitched,so he usually keeps quite. The best thing is to just ignore everyone and concentrate on your children.Keep your cool and take care of their health. Its them who needs you most at this time.So dont think of anyone else.

It could really harm the unborn child if they are exposed to it. They are playing it safe. Don't be a brat.
