My husband got sick 4 days ago when we were in Thailand. We think it is food poisoning. He woke up vomiting and has had diaorrhea since then. He is suffering with really bad stomach cramps..He managed to travel home much to his agony and i now want him to go to doctors, but his now saying that he is home and it will stop now...this is 4 days now!! Will the doctor just say its food poisoning and to let it run its course?

just the diarrhoea continuing for more than 24 hrs is a reason for a doctor, for it may even be salmonella or other kind of food poisoning,he has every symptom of it and should see a doc.he will get pain relief from the cramps, clear up the infection and sorted,by leaving things to run their course is foolish and a risk of worse things to come, nag the hell out of him to get to the doctors,ps and make sure he drinks stacks of water.good luck and hope he gets well soon.

Typical male!!!

Nag at him to go to the doctor - hopefully the GP will just say it's food poisoning and to let it run its course, but on the off-chance it's something worse - it would definitely be better to check it out.

Four days is a long time with this sort of thing and he could be dehydrated if he is still vomiting and has diaorrhea.

Food poisoning (in general) will not last for four days unless his body is having some sort of extreme reaction. Get him to a doctor asap, as the vomiting and diarrhea have probably left him dehydrated and could really mess up his sodium and potassium levels, which could lead to much more severe issues that would require more extensive treatments!

Definitely go to the doctor. Food poisoning doesn't last for 4 days. It could be many things, but if he is having vomiting and diarrhea for four days, that is dangerous. He could become very dehydrated, for one.. and he could even have something really bad like a parasite.

Typical bloke, we are so stubborn when it comes to going to the Doctors, coming back from abroad and not feeling well he should get down that Doctors now, you cannot assume it is food poisoning it could be anything up to life threatening, why risk it.

Go to the doctors! He may be dehydrated after 4 days of vomiting. Get him into the car and take him to the doctors.

Go to the doctor just to be sure. Foreign locales are not anything to mess with. They contain foreign diseases and viruses. It is best to check it out, food poisoning is usually run its course by now.
