My Mom is dying. She has colon/rectal and breast cancer. We brought her to Jackson, MS to get lifesaving treatment. We have been staying in a hotel for 2 months for her to get followup treatment and are running out of money for a room. Does anyone know of a hotel chain that gives free rooms to cancer patients who are receiving care away from home. Please help me because if we leave from here, she will not get the treatmen she needs. Thanks.

Speak with the social worker at the hospital. They have knowledge on what is available. Some places may give you a reduced charge.

Enjoy very minute you have, and Maybe the red cross? My friend got into something like this and they knew who to call. The American Cancer Society Maybe..

There might a Local family that will come forth and let you stay with them..

Sometimes, Local Church will be willing to do this for you..
I like the idea of the local TV or new paper might also be some help..
Wal-mart may be a choice too. If you call the store manager and ask them if there is a program that might help.

Stay strong for your mom. Just a thought,, For now put yourself in the future. What is it you want to remember about this time with your mom? What is really important? What do you want to smile about 6 mos. from now... I know it is hard. Hang in there.. Again make the most of this you can.. God bless you and your mom..

Some Ronald McDonald Houses offer housing for families of cancer patients. Check with them. I don't know if there is such a place near where your Mom is getting her treatment. The hospital she is using might offer some suggestions too. Have you spoken with the Cancer Society or the local Hospice organization. Again the hospital could give you the phone numbers. Good luck.

A question I have: is this treatment something your Mom wants? Or is she doing this for you, her family? Ask her! If she does not want more treatment, contact Hospice. They are wonderful and helpful for the patient and the family.

I am sorry about your mom. I am glad you are able to be with her, especially at this time. Call The United Way in Jackson at: 1-800-762-8557 & see if they have any accomodations for families in your situation. They list one of their services as help with "emergency" situations. They may have a place your family can go for help. The local Salvation Army might be able to help, or the local churches. I will pray for your family too. Your mother is blessed to have you in her life.

Please speak with the Social Worker at the hospital. They have resources to give you where you can get lodging since you are from out of town.

I wish your mom and your family the best. There are a lot of wonderful treatments out there today and never give up hope. She needs you there with her, too.

I am sorry about your mother. I do not understand what treatment she needs. I would like for you to be more specific.

write to local tv stations and tell them your predicament. Going to church may help her peace of mind.
