1. Buy wildflower seeds (I got a huge bag from a native plant nursery for about $10), plant them in pots, and when they're big enough, sell them to the community. You could raise funds (selling each plant for a couple of bucks) as well as promote native plant gardening.
2. Volunteer to help with a bird or butterfly count at a nearby nature preserve.
3. Put up bird and/or bat boxes at a local park.
4. Rent or borrow canoes/kayaks to collect trash from waterways.
5. Find a local nature preserve (owned by the state, county, The Nature Conservancy, Audubon, etc.) and ask them how you can volunteer.
6. Have a bake sale at school selling baked goods made from sustainable/natural/organic ingredients. You could have posters about sustainable agriculture next to the cookies you're selling. You'd be surprised how many high school students have never heard of such ideas before.
Good luck!!

I was in an environmental education class 34 years ago, in high school. We collected aluminum cans and sold them for scrap. They money we raised was contributed to a fund that purchased a salt marsh in San Francisco Bay that is to this day a bird habitat, educational site, and undeveloped. We also taught ecology and natural history at the local elementary schools. We sponsored an "Eco-Freak" festival for the whole school, with games, speakers, and general good fun.
Most of the people who participated in this program went on to careers in environmentally focused fields or helping others!

You could put together some water wise packs and sell them to a local community.
The tree planting day is a great idea. Alot of local councils will donate the trees and suggest a good place to plant them. You can have a BBQ to raise money.
Selling plants seems like an obvois choice. The group could make cuttings themselve and grow then to a decend size for selling.
Hope any of those ideas help!
Have fun! :)

Start and maintain an organic garden. Sell the vegetables produced.
You will gain a lot of practical knowledge about ecosystems (interaction of soil, climate, plants, and insects) and you will do a little fundraising at the same time.

cut out pictures of penguins. name all of the penguins cute names like "bernard" and "joyce." then sell adopt-a-penguin sponsorships to friends and neighbors. pocket the proceeds and you're done! wait, that's more like fraud. don't do that... unless you find a way to help some real penguins then it probably might not be so bad.

"Plant a Tree Day!" A great activity, and you can sell small trees to make it a fundraiser.
Best wishes and good luck.
