Put your XP CD into the drive. Set your BIOS to boot from CD. Allow everything to load, accept the EULA and you'll be prompted with what you'd like to do with Windows. Install a new copy or repair an older one. Elect to install a new copy and it will reformat your hard drive for you.
Windows comes with it's own partitioner. It's not that great, but it's a partitioner nonetheless. It will do what you need to get done.

Brandon

You have a Windows XP Upgrade disk (I do too, although i created a "fake" XP Disk by burning my i386 folder to a disk so I could install without a previous OS on my system) The upgrade disk is for people that had previously purchased a Microsoft Operating System only. You can either do what I described above (using another computer), borrow a (full) windows disk from a friend, OR purchase a Full install version. There is no other way around it :-(

When you instal the cd run it from the begining hit F10 or F12 depending on your boot selection key
chose your cd rom
press a button to follow the directions on screen
accept the terms
when you get to a page with a box, choose to instal on the one that says windows xp or something
i think you hit esc to continue instaling it then delete the partition
then format using the (quick) option n boom, thats it the rest you can follow the directions,
note that this will erase your drivers and everything instaled on this, wich might not let you go on internet and have audio n other stuff so be careful!!!!
Its a headache trying to get them without the proper tools

Set your computer to boot from CD, put the XP CD inside your CD ROM, and reboot your computer, Set up will start, it will ask you weather you want a NEW fresh copy of XP (which will format the computer) or if you want to repair a current installation.
Good luck!

You are very ambitious. Formatting is the last thing I want to do. However:
To format, open My Computer, right-click on C and select Format. In a minute you'll be looking at a blank screen and you will have to reinstall everything you were using.

change first the way your pc is booting...restart your pc, press delete while still on POST. then it will open cmos settings, there change the booting sequence, make it boot in cd.
then save by pressing F10, it will restart. when computer ask you to press a key to start in cd, do it..all is self explanatory. cd installer will not do any function without asking you, read carefully the written details on the monitor. you can further ask me about other things regarding these.
