Reinstating the draft. But, it's problematical whether reinstatement of the draft will go a long way to reducing a shortage of manpower. Only 15% of adult males between the ages of 18 and 45 in the U.S. can meet the physical requirements for the armed forces.
Good luck.

"Re-instating" the Draft. To the best of my knowledge, the local Selective Service Boards are still in existence. Their manning levels and efficiency? I have no clue. Probably not good; they have been a political step-child since the early 1970's.

All it would take is a Congressional bill (and subsequent funding) to re-instate them. Under the current Congress, that's not likely.

Politically, even a conservative majority in Congress would be hard put to pass such a bill. No, the damage is done; it would take something on the order of another Pearl Harbor to revive such a thing, before the Americans woke up to such a notion;.
