Whats a better first car?

Question

My dad is helping me buy a new car, so money shouldn't be too much of an issue. The two cars im trying to choose between are the Mazda3 and the Mitsubishi Lancer. I wanted a mazda3, but my dad heard that it has a lot of problems. Any opinions???

What problems does the Mazda 3 have again? Are you sure your dad isn't thinking of another car?

Mazda has only made 3 cars in recent years (for North America, at least) with reliability issues: the RX-7 (especially turbo), the 626, and the MX-6 (the latter two are closely related)

Everything else is among the most reliable cars you can buy.

That said, the Lancer isn't a bad car, either. But I'd go Mazda.

go with the the mazda3 it gets 24 miles to the gallon on city and 32 miles highway where as the mitsubishi lancer only gets 19 city and 25 highway. Plus the mazda3 should be less expensive. So you will be saving money buyig the car and saving money on gas. Don't let your first car experience be bad because you can't afford to go anywhere. you can always get a more expensive gas guzzler later in life :)

Go with the Mazda 3 you get a better re-sale value than the Lancer.

The lancer is not that much better mitsu has a many problems as mazda does so.... for resale value and interior space i think you will be happier with the 3

Mazda 3 is much more reliable than the Mitsubishi Lancer.
It will also be worth more when you decide to sell it.

I say go with the Lancer. You dont want a car with probs. Youll just waste all of your money on it.

Check out scions, acuras and hondas ive had more luck with those brands and they are less expensive
