What do you guys make of ghosts or people whom have been possessed? There are many cases which have been documented as in fact being real occurrences.

If there are such things as ghost and possessions then that PROVES there is an afterlife or at least another dimension made up of spiritual beings

Well I for one have always has an interested in the paranormal stuff, real or not. The way I look at it though...if there was ever a chance of some form of it being a reality, I personally think it would still be very much connected to this planet still. Not some far off magical land, and not really a part of religion/religious stuff at all, just a thing of it's own.

I mean, at least 'ghosts' could be people who actually DID exist at one time... "Ghosts" have given me far more proof then a 'god' ever has...the deity still stands at zero.

Possessed on the other hand...no. The only times I have ever heard of such things, it is ALWAYS a person who has believed in it. I have never heard of a non believer being possessed. That says a lot.

I actually do believe in ghosts. However, how do Christians explain ghosts? If all souls go to either heaven or hell, why are there still souls here on earth? Your question should be directed at Christians, not atheists, since atheists can have such a diverse view of the "afterlife".

A. The only common thing among atheists is the fact all atheists do not believe in the existence of a supreme creature / being / beings / creatures

B. Where are the documented cases?

C. Try to work in a Asylum, then you will see many of the so called "possessed" incidents.

I don't know of a single case that couldn't be explained through psychological deviance or mind tricks. There have been many haunting/possession hoaxes and exaggerations.

Beyond that, even if there were something mysterious occuring, what would that prove? That there are mysterious things people don't understand. A weird occurence happening wouldn't prove the Bible or a religion as being all true.

Ghosts are life forces that didn't join the atmosphere because they had unfinished business. Possession is evil life forces that take over the body of a living being.

Documented? These people are afflicted with mental illnesses. I've seen somebody with schizophreia have a horrible reaction to their medication, and they acted possessed too. That's all it is. But so many people still live in the dark ages and think people with mental illnesses are possessed by the devil, that they try to exorcise them and cause them more harm. I have borderline personality disorder, and I've been told on several occasions when I'm having an episode that I'm like a completely different person.

Ghosts I don't know. Maybe something to to do with time, memory, matter, our imaginations? I've seen and heard things...

Demonic possession is just a superstitious scapegoat for any kind of profound mental illness or mental disturbance.

Superstitions and religious zealotism leading to misdiagnosis...

No actually none of them have been proven as beeing real. So it's still open for debate. as an atheist i still strongly belive that everything will soon have a SCIENTIFIC explenation. A while ago ppl thought that thunders wer send from heaven because Zeus or w/e was upset..or that Earth was the center of the universe or that it was flat. more and more q are answered. Religion is just a poor excuse for escape from the obvious: we will eventually die. And once dead THAT'S It..there is no after life. get used to it. live your life.
