Yes, I did. I agree with you. If a book is truly helpful for the believer, then it is a redundant work. One only needs to read his or her Bible to know the way of salvation and what God expects from us.
And for the non-believer, Rick Warren's book offers no concept of repentance/forgiveness for sin.

If you love God and love others and share the gospel you ARE living the pupose driven life according to God. I tried reading through this book and it was more of a movement this churches were following with Bible studies and discussion on the book. I think things are negative when books and people and preachers think they know more than God and try to upstage or be the center instead of the Lord being the center. You are posting very good questions. I am proud of you for challenging things that are not quite right I admire you for that Peace e4g

Not that i care either way.... but if you have not read Purpose Driven Life how can you say what does or does not ring true in the book. Most of the truths that we cling to in life depend upon our own point of view. So how can you feel "NEGATIVE" about a book you haven't read? Do you suffer from osmosis? Doubt it. Read the book if you want to have an opinion about it and not sound like an idiot.

You should listen to that still small voice, and not read this book. It is a farce.
God is interested in bringing his chosen through a 'process' driven life. A 'purpose' driven life is prideful in that it puts the focus on the person. The 'process' driven life puts the focus on the purposer, who is God, and the glory which is brought to Him through this process (convertion).

I did,
That book does not present a true picture of the Gospel.
It does nothing but promote a false salvation, just to make one feel religious.

Yes. A few people I worked with tried to push it, but I find most such "motivational" books demotivating, and most of the writers are con artists with that slimy used-car-salesman personality.

Can you give us some details please; or at least a link to where you read about these problems you mentioned. I don't want to judge something based on hear-say.

I've never read it, generally I don't like reading Christian books. Its like hearing someone say, "one plus one is two". I'm just like, "yeah okay". But reading non-Christian books that try to bring down Christianity are fun to read.
