They're all throwbacks from ancient rituals and gods created by frightened, primitive hunters and gatherers that didn't understand what the moon was, and thought the "Father Sun" was angry and made the rain stay away. Religion is a "reason," an excuse to not be afraid of the unknown.

You didn't give much to think about. Yes, no, maybe, anybody's guess, could be.
Of course there is a quote, unquote, 'right' as opposed to 'left' religion. Is there one God, or are their thousands upon thousands of Gods, or is there just a universal soul we are all absorbed into? Look at all the choices.
Which one makes logical sense? Study the cosmos. Think about your inner self. Is man the maker of his own destiny or is there actually a plan? What does life teach you? The real religion adds these things up and gives you the answer. How valuable are you as a human being? How valuable do you see others? How hard have you searched? Is your plate empty?
