The pagans. The Christians didn't even decide on a birthday for Jesus until the 4th century.

it is well known amongst theologian's that jesus was definetly NOT born in december he was most likely born in march and it just so happens the pagan festival saturnalia was close for this date..but..it is actuallly the pagan roman festival that Emperor Aurelian dedicated to Sol Invictus on the supposed day of the winter solstice and day of rebirth of the Sun. it also happens to be close to the jewish celebration of hanukkah which is celebrated on the 25th of november/december.
