You mean trim cases for loading?

If you're not concerned about hitting a dime you left on the 200 yard line, you shouldn't worry about trimming too much, maybe three or four rounds through a case before you trim it.

On the other hand, I do all my loading one at a time by hand, and trim the cases every single time. It won't really shorten case life, since it'll stretch every time you shoot, but having a consistent case length will improve accuracy and consistency in any AR or bolt gun, especially when you're not crimping your rounds.

this depends on what firearm you use, and what loads. Each time you fire the round, the case expands. With a new firearm, I generally check case length at first time, second time and third time fired. Then I get a good idea of how much the case length is going to expand with repeated firings. This gives me afair estimate of how often I need to trim the case. On average? 3-4 times fired needs to be trimmed ( In my AR)
