So my boyfriend and I recently split up "over distance" (1000 miles distance) but then I found out he actually broke up with me because he met a girl who he "connected with" better. I had not seen him in 2 months, and would not see him for another 2 or so. I guess he had only known her a week before he broke it off with me (6 months) and started dating this other girl. While they seem to be pretty "compatible", my question is...is it infatuation? Do relationships really happen that quickly? Is that even normal? I don't think I'll ever get back together with him now, but I'd like to hear some opinions on this frustrating situation. I think some clarity on it would just help.

Oh I should also probably mention that he still wants us to be friends, like "seriously". After we broke up (but before he told me about the other girl) he would call like once a week or so just to chit chat and whatnot. So I guess it it possible that our relationship was infatuation? (even though I feel it was not, at least on my end)

double EDIT: AND in case anyone was wondering, we don't talk because right now I feel its best that we don't. I'll have to seem in a few months though when I do go back, so we may start being friends then or whatever.

some people are needier than others and sometimes thier needs are selfish and short lived. maybe he and you are on different maturity pages in life and its for the better.

Girl I'm in the military and unfortunately I've seen people jump into marriages quicker then that for reasons I don't feel like explaining right now. But I think with your ex bf it's infatuation right now that can grow into something more and if he is living in this other location then it is likely to continue on because she is there and you are not.

It could be more than infatuation. For me, every guy I really felt a connection with happened instantly. There were guys that I slowly began to feel infatuated with, but they died out fast, kind of how that guy felt about you. I'm sure when you find the right guy, your feelings will be instant too.

When it comes to long distance relationships, you have to learn how to communicate. Text messages are wonderful if you know how to use them wisely. BIG hug! :)

it is possible even in a long distance relationship to truly fall in love at hello --- i did and so did my lady ---- neither of us was in a relationship at the time so that was not a problem --- in your case it could for real --- he just happene to meet someone and that was it --- or he could just be in the throws of lust ---- best i can say he was not truly committed to you ---- best wishes
