A few minutes of work per resume might seem like a real pain but can be the difference between you getting a job and some other schmuck getting it.

If you are applying for a specific position, you have to customize. This way you show respect to the company and most importantly demonstrate your interest in the position.
If you do something like a mass mailing or fax your resume to 100 companies at the same time, you have to go with something generic. Hope this helps.

You should have about 5 different Resumes. Each cover letter should be different. I would give it a 9

try to keep your resume the same and customize only the cover letter. if they call you in for an interview, you may forget which version of your resume you submitted.

This is very important that you have it updated regularly. I also keep several different types on my usb so it is always handy as well as keeping hard copies handy.
So this scores a 10 in very important!
