ALL Ruger Model M77's have a Bolt Release Lever on the left rear side of the receiver. (It is on the reverse side on Left Handed Model 77's) Simply open the bolt and pull gently backwards pulling out the release lever at the same time. The Bolt will come out easily. To re-install simply line up the Bolt face lugs with the grooves in the receiver and with the Bolt vertical simply push the bolt forward..it will latch automatically and you will hear a "click" in the process..Good Luck!

If you need further assistance check out the Ruger website listed below for full instructions on your Ruger M-77

My Ruger M77 270 bolt is jammed. It will move about 1 IN back before stopping its not the case, I can see it move through a gas hole on the L side of the rifle. Something is keeping the bolt from traveling back to eject the spent brass. I ve taken it apart all the way down as far is possable and I can t figur out what is stopping the bolt. Can someone help!!

The Ruger that I have has a set screw on the opposite side of the bolt, you have to take it out, then hold the trigger and the bolt should slide right out. Of Course My Ruger is an 80's model.

Mine has a lever on the top left rear of the receiver. Push it out, away from the gun and the bolt should pull all the way out.

There should be a small button on the top of the trigger assembly. Push it and it will release the bolt so you can slid it out from the butt side.
