Have been in the military for 8 years now and served in the war in Iraq for 15 months. I was also in the position to take a bullet for a stranger. Service Members constantly give up their lives for their countries, and for people they never have nor never will meet.

It doesn't matter to me what religious affiliation a person is. That's the beauty of America: the freedom of religion. And I will fight and die for said freedom. And yes, take a bullet for it too.

Good Samaritans are rare species of this era. Not so long ago there will be stranger that will be willing to help but because of the ever changing morals and dogmas of this world on the scale of 1-1000 probably there will be 1.

Just a classic example is that we don't even know who is our nearest neighbour. The word Care is slowly getting out of our vocabulary or system.

The irony of all ironies, all religious sect preaches love, care, unity but they Can't simple stand each others presence. I don't think religion matters most.

Anyway, how many of you will take a bullet for a stranger? well let's not loose hope, may be 1?

I put my self in a situation where I would have taken a bullet for every stranger in this great country! I served my time in the military and that is part of the deal you know you are going to be deployed to war and could be shot. No I don't think the ones shooting at me cared one bit about my religion but they do care about something strong enough that caused them to take the rule of shooting at others.

Speaking from experience, everyone here can claim that they would or would not step in front of a bullet, but until you are actually faced with this situation I guarantee you have NO IDEA what you will do. Speaking as a soldier, when we go out into the field to do our jobs, we aren't doing it for strangers. When it comes down to it, every soldier when asked why he does it, will answer "for my brothers in arms." We fight and if necessary die for the men and women who are standing on our left and our right.

i dont know about someone walking down the street, but in the case of our troops taking bullets, bombs, and so much more to protect the lives and beliefs of strangers. i know there arent too many out there that would take a bullet for others, thats why im grateful for our brave troops.

those others did not really care what religion you were. they were proud that you are free to choose whatever religion you want to.
I would take a bullet to save my country and to save my battle buddies.
Yes, I do realize that some very honorable people have taken bullets so that we can live freely as we do.
I want to say thank you for all who are serving and for all who have served. I know some have never recieved the 'thank you' that they deserved.

No. Call me selfish, but I value my own life more than that of a stranger.

And I have also never been shot at. Nobody has taken a bullet for me. I can't imagine that anyone shooting at me or taking a bullet for me would care what my religious beliefs (or lack thereof) are.

I would consider it honor and a privilege to take a bullet for any person except for a person who I knew would be dangerous to others. As far as those who have taken bullets for me, I just haven't got the words to express the respect, admiration and gratitude I have for them.
