My husband and I usually end up punishing different things. I'm more adamant about eating dinner, he usually takes over on when my son is into stuff that he shouldn't be.

My hubby and I are a team when it comes to privilages and disipline. We have sat down and agreed on what we think works, and what we believe is cause for disipline. Such as not doing chores, talking back, getting into trouble at school. Luckliy our daughter doesnt get into trouble much so it isnt that hard. We also agree that if only one of us is home and She does something that breaks the house rules she gets the punishment that fits, such as Standing in the corner, losing a privilages like computer or TV or loses a toy if she was using it in the wrong way. But as soon as the other parent gets home, the parents talk asap so that they are on the same page. As this has worked so far I am sure we will continue this way until it isnt as effective and then we will discuss what is next.

Both parents should be disciplinarians, or should agree on who metes punishment. It is usually the same parent throughout, as far as I know. Strict disciplinarians tend to either loosen up a little or go over the edge when their children hit the teen years.

At this point, my husband and I both do the parenting and discussing. When we don't agree, one of us usually just gives in fast. When our son is older, I think that I will take over the roll of disciplinarian seeing as he is the more laid back one.
Growing up, it was my mom who did most of the discipline. My dad was very laid back and cool about everything.

These answers surprises me my husband does most of the discipline in the house hold. although i do have my limits and the kids know where it's at. My husband just tends to be more strict than i am. And they know where his limits are and not to cross them.
In my home growing up my father was more scary than my mother. But i remember getting disciplined more from my mother.
I don't have teens yet and i have all girls oldest is 9.

My daughter is nearly 7 months so i have no need to spank her yet, but when she's older i think i will be the disciplinarian, reason being, my partner works all week and is rarely home, so i will really be the only one to do it.

we both do. usually if its a big deal we discuss it but if its just normal daily things whoever saw it or was there handles it, if either one of us feels it was handled a little too harsh (like taking a toy away for weeks when maybe just a day would work) we talk about it when the kids arent around that way they dont think they can come between us. it may change when they are teens, but not very much.

I don't have kids.. but in my house it was my mom who was the disciplinarian. She would threaten to call my dad, which (for some unknown reason since he was never the one to decide on punishment) scared us. Sometimes she'd make him spank instead, but the punishment was decided by her.
As teens it was still my mom.

I am and my children know that they aren't to mess around with me, The Mommy. My husband will discipline them when they misbehave, but he's very laid back when he does so and isn't sure exactly what to do. They know not to misbehave when I'm around because I have very little tollerance for it. I'm not asking for them to be good 24/7, just that they learn not to act a certain way twice.
Best Wishes =]

With my son, I was a single parent so I was the disciplinarian during all of his years. I didn't have to do much in the way of punishment though.
