Self awareness is a never ending fountain of humility. Freedom from delusion is its own reward. Far less expensive too than trying to appear to be someone of substance. If you pay attention to your own thoughts, you cannot but be humbled by it. It will make you compassionate for everyone and decrease your fear of loss because you will see that you have nothing to boast about.

Humility comes when you realize that not only do you not know everything, you hardly know ANYTHING. The rewards of humility are the amazing things that you learn AFTER that point :-)
