Justsyds - it is obvious you have not read or studied the Bible for yourself very well. You are relying like many on what you have heard.

Hoping for your renewed interest in the Word of God.

A good tree, of course

To Jonathan:
What inquisition do you mean ? The protestant inquisition burnt many people. Henry VIII burnt people accusing them of this or that.

John Calvin, the "pope" of Geneva, burnt many people at the stake, including Michael Servet, the discoverer of the blood circulation, due to religious discrepancies. Furthermore, he refused Servet's request of being hanged instead of burnt

Yikes, another Chick disciple!

First, let us look at that bit of biblical verse that you have pulled out to rationalize your bigotry against the largest and oldest denomination of Christianity.

Matt 7:17-18
17 So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit.
18 A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.

The false prophets of verses 15-20 are to be judged in accordance with Deut 13:1 and 18: 20-22. Does the prophet's word come true? Does the prophet lead the people astray? The results (or fruits) show the prophet's character (the tree)

Now take into account the teachings of Jesus Christ, His Apostles that He chose regarding Commandments and Idolatry, plus the 2000 + years of documented, continuity, and functioning history of the Roman Catholic Church.

My question to YOU directly. Did Jesus choose Judas Iscariot? Does that choice of one of the 12 Apostles condemn our Savior Jesus Christ? NO! Jesus is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE.
Read Matt 18:15-35.

When you get the urge to believe the false prophets of the disciples of Chick, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ Read Matthew 7:1-14.

The Roman Catholic Church is not the false prophet of your fears. The false prophet is the false perception of anti-Catholic bigots. Seek the Truth in the name of Jesus the Christ.

about 200o years old Catholic Church, thank you, the font of all Christianity.

The image of the field with the wheat and tares is the image of the Church on Earth since those in grace and those not in grace can both be in an institution before the 2nd Coming.

The tree and its good or bad fruit image is more about the individual

Millions were not killed by the Inquisitions( there was no one united inquisition) but less than 10,000 for all the inquisitions

More were killed in witch hysterias in Protestant(as well as Catholic and Muslim-dominated) Europe until the 1800s.

Catholic leadership has repeatedly apologized, asked forgiveness for and condemned the atrocities done in the name of the catholic Church but Fundamentalist protestants have never owned or apologized for the atrocities done in the name of "Bible Christianity". Which would Jesus do,Hmmn?

It's the good tree. You, apparently, have been taught from the bad tree.

You can't use Jesus' teachings to condemn something that you do not agree with, or understand. That's not what Jesus taught.

I don't know .... but I know protestant will be classify as a weed, since it grows as a parasite using the tree's nutrients (Bible) and then in turn try to destroy the tree.

According to some Protestants, it is a tree that is home to every evil bird. Note that birds in Scripture connote evil spirits most of the time.

Considering the millions of Christians killed in the inquisition, I would say rotten fruit.
